Our directors are all volunteers, and serve a one year term, except for the President, who serves a two year term. Read more on what their roles are. We are pleased to introduce to you our 2016 Board of Directors and Staff!
Jen Arbo – President
Jen Arbo is an advocate for community building, volunteerism, and strategic planning. She is the co-owner and Editor of Tenth to the Fraser, and online and print magazine focused on the community. She sits on the Public Engagement Task Force for the City of New Westminster, and is the volunteer Registrar for KidSport New West. She has called #NewWest home for 20 years.
Hennisea Hoy – Secretary
Hennisea Hoy has been a New Westminster resident for thirteen years (minus a couple of months living in Chilliwack and Istanbul) and is very happy to call New West home. She started volunteering with RCFM in January 2010 and joined the Board in 2011. She is now serving as our secretary and has been for a number of years.
Kevin McConnell – Director
Kevin has lived in New West five years. This is Kevin’s fourth year on the board of RCFM. Kevin has a passion for local food, craft beer, supporting small business and a desire to help grow the already awesome community in New Westminster.
Sheila Poznikoff – Treasurer
Sheila is a farm nerd who currently farms for a living and farms in her spare time. Sheila’s fondness for New Westminster and its amazing people was once again inspired after serving the market as a vendor for 4 years; it’s the latest affinity in a relationship with the Royal City that first began as a wee child growing up in North Surrey who often pleaded with her folks to take her across the river to Queen’s Park. She has a passion for food as it intersects with environmental sustainability, food security and animal welfare.
Rob Mackay – Director
Rob is a chef who moved to New Westminster two years ago, with his wife Tammy and enormous black lab, Cheddar. This is Rob’s first year on the RCFM board. He is passionate about all things relating to food: where it’s sourced, how it’s grown, and how it’s prepared. Rob is excited to bring his 20 years of culinary experience to the already incredible RCFM team.
Matt Lorenzi – Director
Valérie Tessier Lee – Operations Manager
Valérie served as our assistant market manager since April and took on the role as Operations Manager on September 1, 2016. As a new resident of New West, and a new mother, Valerie has developed a greater desire for community. Be it between residents, mothers or fellow foodies and art lovers, she was easily able to find her village here, in our little area of the Fraser. Originally from Montreal she has made multiple pit stops before ending up in BC. A locavore, Valerie aims for a more compassionate, kind and simple life.
