Abreast in a Boat

Abreast in a Boat is group of women in Vancouver and the surrounding area who are living with breast cancer. They participate in the yearly dragon boat race, racing to raise awareness and make a difference. They also hope to encourage others living with breast cancer to continue to live a full and active life. Although the organization originally started as a research project (to test the myth that repetitive upper-body exercise in women treated for breast cancer encourages lymphedema) with 24 women, it has now grown to include 6 crews across Vancouver and over 150 teams worldwide.
